We Are currently working on building the Bible of the Palm*Grove Clan.
What is a Bible?
A Bible is a collection of stories, songs, poems ,chants and other bits of information put together into one book to help people understand the meaning of their life and beyond.
It lets people know how they should live, what is acceptable, what is taboo, and what they can expect to find on the other side of life.
To give a purpose to a given spirituality to a known tribe.
To tell the history of a clan.
The Christians have their Holy Bible - the good book - The wiccans have their Book of shadows, and their reed. The Jewish have their Koran, etc..
I am an American Celtic Druid Priest of the Palm*Grove Clan.
This is our Story and this is our bible.
The information herein is for base line only and to help you understand the way we see life and the way we think.
Druids do not feel bound by the Wiccan Reed, nor are they bound by the Christian ethic, so how do they relate their life and ethical values?
1: they had a code of conduct that meant more to them than life, for to break it would be to be dishonored in their community and family. This code of conduct can be found elsewhere in the site.
2: they had the triads: rules of life and living that were written down to help you see the right and wrong ways and to help with legal judgments.
Look for our page here on the Triads that we find most pertinent to modern life.
3: their spirituality was derived from nature itself and they new that each entity in the world both seen and unseen, animate and seemingly inanimate was a facet of the creator and therefor must be revered, and cherished.
1: Amergin, Bard of the Milesians, lays claim to the Land of Ireland
I am a stag: of seven tines,
I am a flood: across a plain,
I am a wind: on a deep lake,
I am a tear: the Sun lets fall,
I am a hawk: above the cliff,
I am a thorn: beneath the nail,
I am a wonder: among flowers,
I am a wizard: who but I
Sets the cool head aflame with smoke?
I am a spear: that roars for blood,
I am a salmon: in a pool,
I am a lure: from paradise,
I am a hill: where poets walk,
I am a boar: ruthless and red,
I am a breaker: threatening doom,
I am a tide: that drags to death,
I am an infant: who but I
Peeps from the unhewn dolmen, arch?
I am the womb: of every holt,
I am the blaze: on every hill,
I am the queen: of every hive,
I am the shield: for every head,
I am the tomb: of every hope.
2: Amergin's call to the land of Ireland enabled the Milesians to land successfully and establish the presence of mortals on the magical isle.
I invoke the land of Ireland:
much coursed be the fertile sea,
fertile be the fruit strewn mountain,
fruit strewn be the showery wood,
showery be the river of waterfalls,
of waterfalls be the lake of deep pools,
deep pooled be the hill-top well,
a well of tribes be the assembly,
an assembly of kings be Temair.
Temair be the hill of the tribes,
the tribes the sons of Mil,
of Mil of the ships, the barks!
Let the lofty bark be Ireland,
Lofty Ireland, darkly sung,
an incantation of great cunning:
the great cunning of the wives of Bres,
the wives of Bres of Buiagne:
the great lady, Ireland,
Eremon hath conquered her,
I, Eber have invoked her
I invoke the land of Ireland.
